7/2010 New Haven, CT - At the Commonfund Institute, Endowment Institute, Standards for Excellence Licensed Consultant Tom Hyatt of Sonnenschein Nath and Rosenthal discussed the Standards for Excellence program in his talk, The Evolution of Nonprofit Governance & the Regulatory Environment, which was co-presented with John Griswold and Bill Jarvis, both of Commonfund.

4/2010 Washington D.C. - Amy Coates Madsen presented a lecture on Developing an Advocacy Policy for the University of the District of Columbia’s Nonprofit Management Certificate Program Nonprofit Advocacy Course.

4/2010 Fairfax, VA – Justin Pollock represented the Standards for Excellence Institute® as a a guest lecturer for George Mason University’s Nonprofits and Accountability: Local and Global Perspectives course. The session focused on the role accreditation plays in the broader context of nonprofit accountability. Justin spoke about accreditation as a whole and the various different approaches currently being taken in the sector. The Standards for Excellence program was presented as a model accreditation program that stresses both external accountability and internal organizational development while providing comprehensive educational materials and support services. The Standards for Excellence was constrasted to some of the less robust compliance-based programs

Justin Pollock, Director of Training Services spent three days on the campus of the University of San Diego conducting a special session for our four newest Licensed Consultants. 5/15/08, Cape May, NJ - Standards for Excellence Institute® Program Director Amy Coates Madsen provided an introduction to best practices in nonprofit management and governance through the Standards for Excellence: An Ethics and Accountability Code for the Nonprofit Sector® to the executive directors of the New Jersey Prevention Network as part of their annual retreat.

5/5/08, Washington, DC - Peter V Berns, CEO of the Standards for Excellence® Institute participated on a panel at the Council on Foundations conference. The panel focused on sharing results from the recent report, Drowning in Paperwork, Distracted from Purpose, a report by the group, Project Streamline. Project Streamline is a collaborative initiative of the Grant Managers Network and produced in partnership with the Association of Fundraising Professionals, the Association of Small Foundations, the Council on Foundations, the Forum of Regional Associations of Grantmakers, the Foundation Center, Grantmakers for Effective Organizations and the National Council of Nonprofit Associations. Peter has served as a member of the Project Streamline initiative (representing NCNA) since its inception.
