Become a Standards for Excellence “Trained Consultant”

Trained Consultants will be able to assist nonprofits interested in improving their governance and management and/or applying for national certification and will be able to offer: individual organizational consulting and trainings (for individual organizations and groups of multiple nonprofits).  These consultants will also have an opportunity to serve as an additional professional resource for the Institute on a contractual basis.

 

Eligible applicants must:

  • Demonstrate professional experience serving nonprofits in your area

  • Complete an application and screening process, including review of professional experience

  • Enter into a written agreement with the Institute setting forth obligations and commitments

  • Complete a three-day “train the trainer” session

 

The course will include:

  • An introduction to the Institute's philosophy on the role of a consultant and the importance of the Standards for promoting accountability and ethical conduct of nonprofits.
  • Background on the importance of "self-regulation" for the non-profit sector, particularly in light of recent federal and state regulatory initiatives.
  • In-depth review of the Standards Codebook as a framework for improving governance and management.
  • Introduction to the Institute's educational materials, including the Educational Resource Packets and training tools.
  • Orientation to the national certification process for the Seal of Excellence.

 

Fee:  $1,500

This includes:

  • Participation in the three-day “train the trainer” course
  • Institute membership for one year
  • Use of educational tools designed for introductory workshops, trainings and clinics
  • 20 Codebooks and three sets of Educational Resource Packets (for a total of 66 educational resource packets).  Purchase of additional Codebooks and Educational Resource Packets will be available at a membership rate.
